What started off as a company of two engineers has grown into an organisation of highly qualified technical staff in widely diversified fields including industrial electronics, water treatment and automation control.

AIS has pioneered the biometric technology in Malta through its widely successful Hand Recognition readers. Using three dimensional hand geometry of a hand to identify a person, these products have been integrated in various applications including high security access control, time and attendance systems and membership identification. During the past 10 years AIS has carried out over 200 installations, including some complex network systems such as those installed at Enemalta Corporation, Air Malta plc., Malta Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. and Island Hotels. Group. The introduction of this technology to Malta has resulted in over 17,000 employees clock daily using an AIS handreader system. The success of these products has been greatly enhanced by the development and application of its own software packages following many years of experience in this field.

The company’s expertise has also been recognised by RSI who have appointed AIS as a Certified Repair Centre for the region providing customer support service to customers in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Tunisia and Egypt.

The core activity of the company has remained systems integration. As a natural development AIS designs, builds and installs Building Management Systems comprising of configurable intelligent controllers networked together to provide controls for heating, ventilation and air conditioning together with other building services.

In recent years, AIS has successfully expanded in the field of SCADA and Telemetry Systems providing solutions to Water and Waste Water Utilities.

As part of a diversification program which started in 1995, AIS Environmental Ltd. was formed to provide environmental consultancy services.

AIS is looking forward to the future with a measure of optimism. It aims to continue expanding into export markets as it recognizes the technical capabilities and experiences gained over the years.
