For a quarter of a century, the Manufacturing Excellence Awards have been acknowledged as rewarding excellence and best practice in UK manufacturing. They are the premier awards for the UK manufacturing industry, organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. The award recognizes the winner’s abilities in several categories that add up to overall competitiveness in world markets.
According to the judges, “In MX2007 one company stood out head and shoulders above all the others. Trend Control Systems manufactures intelligent building controls, making others more efficient in their use of resources and providing a splendid example itself of how to build product flexibility into its systems… Trend showed an outstanding record in product innovation, process innovation, customer focus and business development.”
In being judged overall winner, Trend joins some of the best-known companies in UK industry, such as Rolls-Royce, Jaguar Cars, Westland Helicopters, Dunlop Slazenger, STC Telecommunications, IBM (UK), British Steel, GEC Alsthom Large Machines and Strix.
Margaret Hodge, Minister of State for Industry & the Regions at the Department for Trade & Industry, presented the award to Tim Darkes, Trend managing director.
“It is fantastic that Trend was a finalist in so many business areas, reflecting our strengths across the whole business, and the strengths of our Partner network,” said Tim Darkes, Trend managing director, on receiving the award.
