Water SCADA network for Water Services Corporation

Thanks to a SCADA system provided by AIS, the Water Services Corporation is able to manage the drinking and waste water networks in real time across Malta and Gozo.

Supplied and installed by AIS, the SCADA system (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) provides WSC's personnel with accurate and timely information, allowing them to successfully manage their operations. Combining years of experience in both hardware and software elements, AIS has provided Water Services Corporation with a state-of-the-art system, making it easy for WSC engineers to manage all of its water networks from their Luqa Head Office.

wsc scadaFinance Minister Tonio Fenech, pictured in front of the many real-time information screens provided by the SCADA system, inaugurated the new control room at WSC Head Office in Luqa.

Apart from their application to oversee nationwide water operations, SCADA systems are widely used in factory automation, power plants, oil and gas refining, telecommunications and transportation. By providing accurate and real-time information, SCADA guides personnel on taking corrective action either automatically or through personnel intervention. When combined with wireless communication, such as radio & GSM, SCADA brings to the forefront the ability for managers to control remote and unattended sites at all times from the comfort of their offices.

AIS is the first Maltese company to have designed and developed its own SCADA system. AIS is proud that WSC has benefitted from its engineering expertise to provide a better service to the Maltese public.

AIS has also provided a similar SCADA system in Libya for the Man Made River Project.
